Syracuse Man Arrested, Officers Discover Hidden Meth During Booking
SYRACUSE — A Syracuse man was arrested for driving while suspended. During the booking process, officers discovered methamphetamine hidden inside his pants.
Sage Allen Powell, 29, 1001 N. Harrison St., Syracuse, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine with a sentence enhancement, a level 3 felony, and driving while suspended, a class A misdemeanor.
On May 3, officers received a complaint regarding an unknown vehicle parked in a driveway. An officer arrived and observed the Monte Carlo pulling out of the identified driveway and pull into another driveway. The officer drove in behind the vehicle and identified the driver as Powell.
Powell’s Indiana driver’s license was suspended prior, indefinitely. Because of this, the officer arrested Powell and he was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, jail officers located a plastic bag of methamphetamine in the crotch area of Powell’s pants. The methamphetamine tested positive and weighed 11 grams.
Powell was previously convicted of dealing in methamphetamine on Sept. 10, 2010 in Elkhart County. Because of this, he received a sentence enhancement on the possession of methamphetamine charge.
