Leesburg Man Arrested For Battering Woman In Front Of His Son
LEESBURG — A Leesburg man was recently arrested after he battered his girlfriend while his son watched. The woman had to be taken to the hospital for her injuries.
John Dean Simpson, 39, 87 EMS B1A Lane, Leesburg, is being charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim filed a battery complaint against Simpson with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department on May 4. She advised that the two had a disagreement and Simpson became angry. According to the victim, he grabbed her by the arms and hit her on the right eye and back of the head. She further advised that Simpson had been extremely intoxicated at the time.
The victim went on to tell the officer that Simpson’s son had been present at the time of the battery. At one point, the son begged his dad to stop hurting her.
The officer spoke with Simpson who advised that the only time he placed his hands on the victim was to move her towards the front door.
Officials from Goshen Hospital contacted the officer in regards to the victim’s injuries. The hospital confirmed that she had injuries on the right side of her head, arms, fingers and left ankle. The victim’s injuries were photographed.
Simpson was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on May 17 with a $6,000 bond.
