Dixie Diane Dean
Dixie Diane Dean, 61, Syracuse passed away at home unexpectedly, following an extended illness, on Monday, May 22, 2017.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1955 in Goshen the daughter of Donald and Darlene (DeVault) Disher. On Nov. 21, 1988 she married Mark Dean.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 30 years, Mark Dean of Syracuse; two sons, Richie (Tina) Doerscher of Goshen and Charles (Jodi) Briggs of Topeka; three grandchildren, Chloe, Maizie, and Isabelle; a step-daughter, Sissy Dean of Indianapolis; numerous step-grandchildren; one uncle, Rev. Jack DeVault of Ligonier; and several cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Darlene Disher; maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Minnie DeVault; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Disher.
Dixie was lovingly raised by her maternal grandmother, Minnie and always shared a close relationship with her. She attended Wawasee Community Schools and worked at Goshen Cushion for many years. Dixie attended the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Goshen in her youth. In her later years, she enjoyed sewing, loving on her grandbabies, and being a social butterfly on social media.
A funeral service will be held in Dixie’s honor at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27 at Reith-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 South Main Street; Goshen, IN 46526. Rev. Patrick Blevins will officiate. A private cremation committal will follow the service at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center in Ligonier. Family and friends will be received from noon-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to charity of the donor’s choice.
