Baby And Me Tobacco Free Is Coming To Kosciusko County
KOSCIUSKO – The Kosciusko County Tobacco Free Coalition is excited to announce a new, evidenced-based program that will be introduced this summer to assist pregnant women to quit smoking. Baby & Me™ – Tobacco Free is a smoking cessation program created to reduce the burden of tobacco use on the pregnant and postpartum population. The results of this program have been well documented, and it has received national acclaim for its effectiveness.
How the program works:
- Pregnant women that smoke are referred by their physician, obstetric/prenatal clinic, or other entity to the Baby & Me™- Tobacco Free program
- The woman meets with a specialized counselor who is trained in the Baby & Me™ program, and an initial intake is completed
- Each participant receives 4 prenatal cessation counseling sessions, support, and carbon monoxide monitoring
- After the birth of the baby, the mother returns monthly for support and continued carbon monoxide monitoring
- If the mother remains smoke-free, she receives a $25 monthly voucher for diapers for up to 12 months postpartum
Because women who want to quit will be referred by providers, companies or organizations, the Tobacco Free Coalition is hosting a special one day information and training seminar from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22.
Don’t miss the opportunity to attend the training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or the lunch and learn from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. The Tobacco Free Coalition looks forward to partnering with local businesses and their colleagues as they implement the evidenced-based Baby & Me™ – Tobacco Free program.
