Fire Station Ready For Bids
WARSAW — Aimee Shimasaki with MartinRiley was present at the Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Protection Territory meeting, June 6, to discuss the Warsaw-Wayne fire station three.
The board took the majority of the hour long meeting to discuss the proposed costs of the new building. There are two proposed structures, one with two bays and one with three bays, and a short list of alternates that include a dormer.
The base bid, the station with two bays, comes in just under $2.6 million. Adding the third bay would bring it to $2.76 million. After soft costs for non-architectural items, the total project budget, with the third bay, would be $3.2 million. The third bay is merely an alternate and may or may not end up in the final plan.
The board approved the drawings to be sent out for bid next month. There is a strong desire by the board that the bid be given to a local contractor, but ultimately it will go to the lowest bidder.
It is hoped that a groundbreaking will occur by early September.
