Caucus Called For Turkey Creek Township Advisory Board Member
SYRACUSE — A caucus of Republican Precinct Committeemen of Turkey Creek Township has been set for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, in the Syracuse Town Hall, 310 N. Huntington St.
The caucus will elect a replacement to the Turkey Creek Township Advisory Board following the resignation of Kimberly Cates. Cates resigned from her position on the board after being elected by county precinct committeemen to fill the vacancy of Robert “Bob” Sanders on the Kosciusko County Council June 7. State law prohibits an individual from holding two elected government positions.
Individuals interested in filing for the position may obtain a declaration of candidacy from the office of the Kosciusko County Clerk, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw. The declarations must be filed with the Kosciusko County Republican Chairman Mike Ragan, no later than 72 hours before the start of the caucus. Declarations can be mailed to Ragan at 1458 E. 75N, Warsaw, IN 46582 or emailed to [email protected].
Those precinct committeemen eligible for the caucus are those who have served continuously from 30 days before the date of the caucus. A precinct committeeman may designate the vice precinct committeeman, if appointed 30 days prior the caucus, as a proxy if the designation is filed at least 72 hours prior to the caucus.
Members of the caucus, candidates, designated caucus staff, Republican Party officials, duly appointed waters and members of the media are those eligible to attend the caucus.
