Warsaw Woman Arrested For False ID
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was arrested for identity deception after she provided another person’s identification during an accident investigation.
Christine Marie Bennett, 31, 3762 W. Old Road 30, Warsaw, is being charged with identity deception, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, an officer with Warsaw Police Department worked a vehicle accident at Lake City Highway and Anchorage Road, Warsaw, on May 22. Of the two vehicles, one involved was a black Jeep registered to a Mallory Zellmer. A female driving the vehicle provided Zellmer’s Indiana driver’s license to identify herself. The license was suspended and the vehicle registration was expired.
The investigating officer was later advised by a Kosciusko County work release employee that they had been informed that a Christine Marie Bennett had been involved in an accident and falsely identified herself as Zellmer. The officer used this information to compare a BMV photo and a booking photo and determined the driver of the Jeep was Bennett and not Zellmer.
The officer then went to Bennett’s place of employment and identified her as the driver of the Jeep.
The officer asked Zellmer if Bennett had permission to use her identity and she stated Bennett did not have that permission. Further, Zellmer stated she did not know anyone by the name of Christine Marie Bennett.
