KOSCIUSKO — The Builders Association of Kosciusko – Fulton Counties completed its 21st Annual Coats for Kids Community Outreach Golf Outing at Stonehenge Golf Course & Country Club in Winona Lake, where twenty-four golf teams competed for donated prizes.
Mission Contracting’s team consisting of BAKFC Builder Member Brad Jackson, son Ben Jackson, daughter Elizabeth Jackson and Vince Beasley defended their title taking first place with a winning team score of 51. Lake City Bank’s Scott Bucher, Everett Nifong, Cory McClarnon, and Todd Pequignot placed 2nd; and the Fidelity National Title team of Associate Member Shelly Avery, Shelly Rogers of Logan Rogers Realty, and Jeff and Beckie Moore of Todd Realty placed 3rd. BAKFC Members and non-members are invited to golf each year to help raise funds used to purchase Coats for Kids for children of low income families in a tri-county area.
The Coats for Kids Community Outreach Golf Outing directly impacts the lives of young children from 19 elementary schools within Kosciusko, Fulton and Whitley Counties. Since 1996, through the contributions of their corporate, member, and nonmember sponsors, the Builders have purchased close to 7,000 new winter coats for elementary school-aged children of families in need. Last year, the BAKFC received a total of 447 requests for winter coats from area schools – up 11 percent from the prior year. The new winter coats are purchased at Warsaw’s meijer. Meijer is the Coats for Kids corporate sponsor; donating funds and providing discounts for the coats since 2014.
