Golf Fundraiser To Benefit Goshen Homeless Shelter
SYRACUSE — Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church will host a golf fundraiser at Maxwelton Golf Club on Aug. 22. The scramble will benefit the new homeless shelter being established at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Goshen through the Goshen Interfaith Hospitality Network.
“We at Saint Mary’s want to make an impact in our community and support the new homeless shelter at Saint Mark’s. We have supported Goshen Interfaith Hospitality Network for many years, and now hope to help them raise the last few thousand dollars of the $253,000 needed for the new shelter, which is set to open in August,” stated St. Mary’s parish council member Rebekah Whirledge through a press release. “We hope the golfers of the community will help support this great cause.”
Cost to play in the scramble is $300 per foursome or $75 per person. Deadline to sign teams up is July 31. Lunch will be provided for golfers, and they will have the option to buy a golfer’s aid package at registration.
Registration begins 1:30 p.m. the day of the event. Shotgun start is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded for closest to the hole, longest drive and hole in one. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and door prizes.
