LCA Basketball: Camp Nearly Doubles In Size, Fun
WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy held its summer basketball camps and saw a tremendous increase in attendance as well as a new spirit for years to come.
The camp jumped from 32 hoopsters in 2016 to 51 in 2017 and the span was just not limited to those involved with the Academy.
“We had several returning campers, and I think the consistency of having the camp and connections at Warsaw Christian has helped us with growing our camp numbers,” said Chris Hohm, LCA varsity basketball head coach. “We had almost every school in Warsaw represented at our camp, which is nice to have a good reach of places that know about our camp.
“We worked on the fundamental skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, and staying in front of your man on defense. The kids loved playing Sharks and Minnows, knockout, and 5-on-5 throughout the week. Our high school helpers were consistent and helpful, and they made some good relationships over the week, especially with the kids that have been to our camp before. It’s fun to see that build.”
