Elkhart Golf Tourney Set To Include Kos County Players
ELKHART – The long-running Elkhart County Women’s Golf Tournament has expanded its borders in hopes of expanding its field in the future.
The event, which is set for its 42nd tourney this weekend, is now called the Elkhart/Kosciusko County Women’s Golf Tournament.
The tourney, which at one time attracted 100 or more players from Elkhart County, had its lowest turnover ever of just 24 two years ago.
The event has a few participants from Kosciusko County this year and is hoping to add more in the coming years. Tournament organizers are also looking at the possibility of playing one of the two rounds next year at a course in Kosciusko County, which does not hold a tourney like this one.
The tourney will be played Saturday at the Bent Oak Golf Club in Elkhart with the final round Sunday at the Christiana Creek Golf Club, also in Elkhart. A dinner and awards program will follow the final round.
Hannah Whisler, a former golfer at Elkhart Central, won the tournament title in 2017. She is not entered in the field this year, which includes 26 players.
