Fort Wayne Couple Vandalizes Local Business, Caught With Drugs
WARSAW — A Fort Wayne couple was arrested after security camera footage showed them damaging a vending machine at Zale Drugs in Warsaw with a sledgehammer.
On July 24, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a theft report at Zale Drugs in Warsaw. An employee advised that when he arrived at work, he found the pop machine had been broken into. It was unknown how much money was inside the machine, but the damage done to the machine was valued at $250.
The video surveillance showed a red Dodge Dakota near the pop machine. A male subject exited the vehicle with a sledgehammer and hit the lock area of the vending machine. The male subject then stole the money and attempted to shut the machine door. A female subject then exited the vehicle and helps the male shut the machine door. Both subjects then enter the truck and leave the area.
An officer was able to identify the owner of truck who advised he loaned the vehicle to Charles Pettigrew. The owner of the truck also heard Pettigrew talk about breaking into vending machines.
Photos of the subjects were shown to officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department. Officers were able to positively identify the subjects as Pettigrew and Jenna Niblick.
On July 25, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a red Dodge Dakota truck in Winona Lake. Pettigrew and Niblick were both passengers inside the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, the officer discovered methamphetamine, five syringes and a sledgehammer.
Pettigrew admitted to breaking into the vending machine and stealing money along with using methamphetamine. Niblick told the officer that the drugs and syringes were hers and that she was present when Pettigrew broke into the vending machine.
Jenna Niblick, 31, and Charles Pettigrew, 39, are both currently in custody at the Kosciusko County Jail.
