CCS Holds Tools For School Event
WARSAW — With the start of school just around the corner, Combined Community Services is providing families in need with school supplies through its annual Tools for School event. Families can pick up school supplies until 4 p.m. today, Aug. 2, at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, 1400 E. Smith St., Warsaw.
The event aims to provide as many items of the school list as they possibly can. While this may not meet all of a child’s school needs, organizers hope to provide the basics to help alleviate some financial stress.
Tools for Schools organizer Ami Pitt estimated that during the first rush this morning, 500 kids received school supplies at the event. Pitt said she expects around 1,100 to 1,200 kids will receive school supplies by the end of the day.
Donations of basic school supplies are still being accepted throughout the day. Of course, monetary donations are always accepted as well.
Aside from free school supplies, Fiesta Salon is on site, giving free back-to-school haircuts. Volunteers from local 4-H groups, home school groups and a number of local businesses are helping hand out supplies.
Tools for Schools is open to public, private and homeschool students. Parents are asked to bring a form of identification, like a driver’s license.
