Thomas B. ‘Tom” Burton
Thomas B. ‘Tom” Burton, 81, Elkhart, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2017 at Greenleaf Living Center.
He was born Aug. 12, 1935 in Elkhart to Thomas K. and Madalean (Doll) Burton.
Survivors include his brother, Keith O. (Linda) Burton of Bonita Springs, Fla.; seven nieces and nephews, Dean Burton of Elkhart; Tonia Burton of Bristol; Rascia Johnson of Fishers; Ryan Ravenscroft of Seminole, Fla.; Robert Scott Ravenscroft of Union, Mich.; Robin Ravenscroft and Randi Ravenscroft, both of Elkhart.; 19 great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jacqueline E. (Burton) Ravenscroft.
For many years Tom worked alongside his sister Jackie at Draperies by Jackie in Wakarusa. They had a special relationship and she was a tireless caregiver to Tom in his last years.
Tom graduated from Elkhart High School in 1955 and lived most of his life in Elkhart until his retirement when he moved to Syracuse. Tom loved lake life and graciously extended an open invitation for family and friends to visit and enjoy swimming and rides on his cabin cruiser.
Graveside services will be held at noon Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Prairie Street Cemetery. Pastor Terry Searls will officiate
Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
