Hisey Set To Enter Plea Agreement On Christmas Day Fatal Crash
WARSAW — Mickgomery W. Hisey, 27, 153 EMS D24 Lane, Syracuse, will be in court at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, to enter a change of plea. The hearing will be held in Kosciusko Superior Court 3.
Hisey has been charged with the Dec. 25, 2016, deaths of Kim Conrad, 61, Syracuse, and her son, Stephen Conrad II, 32, Phoenix, Ariz., as a result of a traffic accident. The head-on accident occurred at approximately 6:13 p.m. at the intersection known as “Crazy Corners,” CR 1200N and Syracuse-Webster Road, near Syracuse.
Hisey; his passenger, Brody Jordan, 23, Syracuse; and Stephen T. Conrad, Syracuse, were initially listed in critical, serious and serious conditions respectively. Hisey was hospitalized for approximately one month after the accident. Jordan was released after several days in the hospital, as was Stephen T. Conrad.
Hisey has been charged with two counts of causing death when operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, both level 5 felonies; two counts of criminal recklessness, both also level 5 felonies; two counts of causing serious bodily injury when operating a motor vehicle with an ACE of .08 or more, level 6 felonies; two counts of criminal recklessness, level 6 felonies; and operating a vehicle with an ACE of .08 or more, a class C misdemeanor.
Preliminary determination in the cause of the crash showed Hisey’s 2015 Chrysler had reportedly been attempting to “drag race” in the wrong lane of traffic prior to the collision. Witnesses told police Hisey had begun passing another vehicle westbound on a hill crest just prior to the intersection. His vehicle entered the intersection, impacting the 2016 Pontiac driven by Stephen T. Conrad, 67, Syracuse.
