Wawasee Sports Wrap: Aug. 15
Girls Golf
Wawasee had all four of its scoring golfers within four shots of one another, good enough to beat Mishawaka Marian and West Noble Tuesday night at Maxwelton.
Wawasee shot a 197, getting past Marian’s 206 and West Noble’s 221.
Jadison Rostochak led the way for the Lady Warriors with her round of 47 and Lesley Tayagua stepped up with a 49. Zoe White added a 50 and Belle Brunner had a 51 for the scoring four from Syracuse.
Marian had Rosa Trippel co-medal the round with her 45 and Corley Turak chip in a 49.
West Noble’s Hannah Godfrey continued to play well in August with a 45 to tie Trippel and Kailie Coplin add a 53.
Wawasee (4-1) will host Westview on Thursday.
Boys Soccer
Wawasee opened a new era of sorts Tuesday with its first-ever game played on the turf field at Wawasee. The milestone was heightened further with Wawasee surprising Westview 6-3.
Chris Pena led the home side with four goals. Ethan Carey and Blayne Fought each found the net as well for Wawasee.
The JV tied Westview 1-1.
Wawasee (1-0) will visit South Bend Riley on Thursday.
