Warsaw Soccer: Ladies Blanked By HSE
LAKEVILLE – The Warsaw girls soccer team began play in the loaded South Bend St. Joseph’s Invitational Friday night with a 3-0 loss to No. 8 Hamilton Southeastern.
HSE scored in the first minute of the match and went on the blank the Tigers in action at Newton Park.
“When you start your first four games against numbers 9, 8, 1 and 16 in in the state you need to play mistake free and unfortunately that wasn’t us tonight,” said first-year Warsaw coach Jon Hoover. “I thought our team played hard, but Hamilton SE was able to disrupt us and break our rhythm.
“Brenna Shipley and Anna Grill both had solid outings for us tonight.”
Warsaw, now 1-1, will face defending state champion Penn Saturday at 9 a.m. The Kingsmen, who are led by Florida State recruit Kristina Lynch, were ranked as high as No. 1 in the country in the preseason.
The Tigers will then play Valparaiso at 4:30 p.m. Saturday to wrap up tourney action.
