NEW PARIS — Jasmine Murillo, 12, New Paris, was flown to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, with a severe head injury after striking a vehicle. Murillo was not wearing a helmet. The accident occurred at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at CR 31 and Isaac Drive, near Goshen.

Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department reported Murillo was westbound on Isaac Drive on a bicycle and disregarded the stop sign, turning left into the path of a vehicle driven by Michelle M. Miazgowicz, 47, Syracuse. Miazgowicz was northbound on CR 31, approaching the intersection with Isaac Drive when the accident occurred.

Murillo was thrown from the bicycle onto the pavement.

Murillo was transported to Goshen Airport by ambulance to meet MedFlight to be flown to Parkview Hospital.
