Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
6:33 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, South CR 1000W, north of West CR 500S, Mentone. Driver: Jonathan S. Hopkins, 22, North SR 14, Akron. The front tire of Hopkins’ vehicle collapsed under the vehicle, causing him to loose control, going off the road and hitting a tree. Hopkins refused medical care at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
9:11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, East CR 1200N and North Woodland Acres Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Paul E. Stouder, 83, North Acorn Drive, Syracuse, and Tanner L. Blackburn, 23, Hasse Court, Syracuse. Blackburn stated Stouder’s vehicle came over the center line and struck his vehicle. After the impact Blackburn’s vehicle went off the roadway, hitting landscape rocks, went back across the road and hit a mailbox. Damage up to $25,000.
3:37 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, South Country Club Road and East Riviera Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Charity L. Gordon, 43, Logan Street, Warsaw, and John D. Myers, 56, South Country Club Road, No. 27, Warsaw. Gordon was backing from a driveway and failed to see the Myers vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
3:23 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, East US 30, east of East Van Ness Road, Pierceton. Driver: Victor M. Hernandez, 20, East US 30 No. 111, Pierceton. Cited for driving while suspended and failing to drive at a reduced speed when required. Hernandez lost control of his vehicle on the wet road, went off the road into the grass shoulder. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
5:53 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, Kings Highway, Winona Lake. Driver: Gabriel O. Popoola, 33, North Parker Street, Warsaw. The front tires on Popoola’s vehicle slid on the wet pavement as he was turning into a driveway, causing his vehicle to hit a rock. Damage up to $10,000.
7:38 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, US 30 and CR 90E, Warsaw. Driver: Adam J. Lithgow, 19, Bluffside Avenue, Fort Wayne. Lithgow’s vehicle began to slide toward a semitractor in an adjacent lane. He steered to the right to avoid contact, then steered to the left, hitting the guardrail. The vehicle then spun 180 degrees. Damage up to $10,000.
4:35 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Parked vehicle registered to Dontice D. Greer, Clinic Court, Warsaw. Greer discovered is vehicle had been struck by a truck that left the scene. Video surveillance showed the driver of the truck pulled out of its parking spot, when the passenger side rear fender to rub the corner of Greer’s front bumper. Damage up to $1,000.
9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, East Center Street, east of Argonne Road, Warsaw. Driver: Adam J. Rumsyre, 26, East CR 700S, Columbia City. Rumsyre’s vehicle was sideswiped by another vehicle that was changing lanes. The driver of the other vehicle left the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
2:46 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, East Center Street and South Wood Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jason F. Rhoades, 42, East CR 150S, Pierceton, and Larry R. Brown, 51, Mission Hill Road, Fort Wayne. Rhoades complained of neck pain but refused medical treatment. Rhoades’ vehicle struck the back of the Brown vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
12:14 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, North Lake Street and North Columbia Street, Warsaw. Driver: Arnetta K. Miller, 58, East North Winds Drive, Warsaw. Miller could not remember anything about the accident. Police report it appears Miller was northbound on North Lake Street, lost control of her vehicle, causing it to veer of the right side of the roadway and collide with the back of a parked vehicle, registered to Jackson E. Mitchell, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw. Miller, who complained of pain to her entire body, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for medical evaluation. Damage up to $10,000.
