Warsaw Sports Wrap: Sept. 11
Girls Soccer
The Warsaw girls soccer team continued a busy stretch by picking up a win.
The Tigers booted home a pair of second-half goals to blank Fort Wayne Northrop in non-conference play Monday night.
Brenna Buhrt and Abby Steffensmeier each scored a second-half tally for the hosts, who were playing their fourth game in the last eight days.
The duo of Anna Grill and Delaney Taylor each had an assist for the Tigers.
Warsaw improves to 7-4-1 overall on the season. The Tigers are also 4-1 in Northern Lakes Conference play.
“Northrop was very disciplined in their strategy to put everyone behind the ball,” noted Warsaw coach Jon Hoover. “We had possessions where we linked over 25 passes together, but at times lacked that attacking prowess. It is great to get a win and a shutout after a long sigh day stretch. We are looking forward to getting back on the practice field to make ourselves and our team better.”
Warsaw won the junior varsity match 1-0. Sarah O’cock scored the game winning goal in the final minute for the JV Tigers, who improve to 3-5-1 overall.
Warsaw will have a week off before playing at Fort Wayne Snider on Sept. 18.

Edward Robinson was second in the boys’ race and David Howard eighth to pace Lakeview.
Lakeview will run at Goshen on Thursday and at West Noble on Saturday.
