Warsaw Sports Wrap: Sept. 14
Volleyball
The Warsaw volleyball team dropped a key conference match to Plymouth.
The visiting Pilgrims topped the Tigers 22-25, 25-16, 28-26, 25-15 in Northern Lakes Conference action.
Lexie Day led Warsaw with 20 kills. Hanna Leach had eight kills for the Tigers.
Day also led her team with 16 digs, while Kacy Bragg had 15 and Erin Peugh 14. Betty Barnett had four blocks and Kennedy Lauck three.
Warsaw drops to 12-6 overall and goes to 3-1 in NLC play. The Tigers still have league matches left versus Wawasee, NorthWood and Concord.
Concord is still undefeated in conference play, while Warsaw and NorthWood each had one loss in the NLC.
Plymouth also won the junior varsity match by a 25-20, 25-16 final. Gwyn Bellamy had six kills for Warsaw. Kylie Prater had 11 digs and Katie Schmidt two aces.
The Warsaw freshman team beat Plymouth 25-13, 25-9 and Culver Academy 25-13, 25-20. Tessa Wood had 18 kills in the pair of wins. Rylee Kaufman had 27 digs and Wood 14 aces in the two victories.
Warsaw plays in the Michigan City Invitational on Saturday.
Freshman Football
The Warsaw freshman football team lost to Elkhart Memorial 33-0.
The host Crimson Chargers led 26-0 at halftime of the Northern Lakes Conference game.
Quarterback Aaron Greene and running back Tyreese Phillips led the offense for the Tigers. Caden Silveus had an interception for Warsaw.
The Tigers drop to 4-1 overall and go to 1-1 in the NLC.
Warsaw hosts Northridge next Thursday at 6 p.m.
Lakeview Volleyball
The Lakeview Middle School 8th grade volleyball team beat Wawasee 25-21, 25-10.
Cora West had five kills for the winners. Abbie Porter had 12 assists, while Tori Jones had six kills and Sara Peugh two. Kylie Smith had seven aces and Wrigley Crabtree and Emma Christenberry each had one ace.
