Parkview Warsaw Hosting Free Car Seat Safety Check
WARSAW — Parkview Warsaw will host a free car seat safety check to the community from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 23, in the Parkview Warsaw YMCA parking lot.
Certified child passenger safety technicians will provide free inspections for children ranging from newborns to preschoolers, making sure they have the proper type of car seat for their age and that the restraints fit correctly.
“We know that road injuries are the leading cause of unintentional deaths in the United States,” said Sarah Wolfe, BSN, RN, CBS, FCN, CPST., one of Parkview Whitley Hospital’s five certified child passenger safety technicians.
“Parents and caregivers should have their child’s car seat checked anytime they don’t feel 100 percent confident on the installation or fit of their car seat. Times when the car seat should be inspected are at birth, when a new car seat is installed after the child has outgrown a previous model by exceeding the upper limits of weight or height, and after a motor vehicle crash.”
The inspection will evaluate the way that the child is currently traveling, check the child’s current restraint for recalls, proper fit and proper installation.
Parents and caregivers can also schedule a free personal inspection with a certified technician by calling Parkview Whitley Hospital at (574) 248-9426.
