Salvation Army Honors Volunteer Mazie Alexander
WARSAW — The Salvation Army of Kosciusko County has established an endowment from gifts given in memory of long-time volunteer E. Mazie Alexander, who was promoted to glory on March 28.
Donations given by family and friends resulted in the creation of the Kosciusko Hometown Heroes Endowment of The Salvation Army. Gifts made to the fund will provide for the long-term stability of funding local programs to help those in need in Kosciusko County.
Alexander volunteered for over 50 years with The Salvation Army. She was also one of the co-founders of The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, which was chartered locally in 1968. Alexander was very active in the community with the Republican Party and Walnut Creek United Methodist Church. She served as county recorder in the late 1960s and was very diligent in her duties.
“Mazie embodied the ideal of ‘Hometown Hero,’” noted Ken Locke, friend and Community Ministries coordinator at The Salvation Army. “She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and gave to others in practical ways. She would be thrilled to be honored in this way, knowing that those gifts will result in monies supporting The Salvation Army for years to come.”
Donations for this fund may be sent to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1257, Warsaw, IN 46581-1257. Please include Kosciusko Hometown Heroes in the memo line.
