Dr. Richard L. Day
Dr. Richard L. Day, 82, Wabash, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born March 24, 1935 in Gas City to Grandville and Della (Owen) Day.
Dr. Day was a 1953 graduate of Mississinewa High School, a 1958 graduate of Taylor University, and a 1962 graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry. He married Anne E. Ineson in Sullivan on July 17, 1958; she died Aug. 7, 2014. He served the Wabash community as a dentist for 35 years, retiring in 1997. Dr. Day was a member of the Wabash Alliance Church, where he volunteered many hours. He was a member and past president of the Wabash Evening Exchange Club, Wabash Wildlife Association, Wabash Valley Dental Society, and the Grant County Dental Association. He was also a member of the Wabash Chamber of Commerce, staff representative to the Wabash County Hospital board, member of the National Rifle Association, Safari Club International, National Chapter and Eastern Chapter of the Foundation of North American Wild Sheep, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Grandslam Club. Hunting and conservation were Dick’s passions. He also enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Lori (Michael) Rose of New Albany and Lisa (Scott) Jean of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Emily) Rose of Henryville, Ben (Alice) Rose of Cary, N.C., and Sam Jean of Greenwood; three great grandchildren, Huston Rose, Leroy Rose, and Anne Rose, all of Henryville. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Jacob Michael Rose.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Wabash Alliance Church, 1200 N. Cass Street, Wabash, with Todd Render and Rev. Jim Walker officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday, at the church.
