Two Car Accident North Of Syracuse
SYRACUSE — Two vehicles collided at the intersection of U.S. 6 and County Road 127 in Elkhart County, northwest of Syracuse. Initially, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies were summoned to the scene around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, but ceded the investigation to their colleagues from Elkhart County.
Reportedly, the driver of a northbound car on County Road 127 disregarded the stop sign at the intersection and collided with an eastbound vehicle, driven by Connie Fields of Syracuse. Fields said she saw the other car approaching the intersection “very fast” and swerved to her left to try to avoid a collision.
The northbound vehicle did make contact with the other car, causing extensive damage to the front of his vehicle and moderate damage to the front passenger side of Fields’ auto. The combination of Fields’ evasive maneuver and the impact with the other vehicle caused the eastbound car to go off the north side of U.S. 6 and around 60 feet into the adjacent corn field.
Neither driver nor the passenger in the northbound vehicle required medical assistance.
