North Webster Auction Arrives Saturday, Oct. 7
NORTH WEBSTER — It is almost time for the biggest social event of the fall and the largest fundraiser annually for the North Webster Community Center. The Heart of the Community Charity Auction & Raffle will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at the NWCC, 301 N. Main St. (SR 13).
The event is from 5 to 9:30 p.m. and a catered dinner by The Sleepy Owl will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The 2017 theme is Hawaiian luau so dig out those print shirts and grass skirts.
There will be hundreds of items auctioned off donated by area businesses, artists and individuals. There will be chances to purchase almost anything under the sun during the auction whether it is through the silent auction or the life auction under the auspices of Brian Wuthrich of Hahn Auctioneers.
Buy a ticket ahead of time for $25 at the following locations in North Webster, NewMarket, Ace Hardware, American Legion Post 253, Jill & Jennifer’s Salon, Fuzzy’s Hideaway, and the NWCC office. Tickets are also for sale at Loose Moose Motor Sports, Pierceton; and The Sleepy Owl, Syracuse. If available, tickets will be $30 at the door.
A ticket entitles you to dinner, bidding at the silent and live auction, access to the cash bar and entry into the raffle. The grand prize raffle winner will have the choice of $12,000 in cash, a 2017 UTV Polaris Ranger from Loose Moose or a 2016 Sylvan pontoon boat from Pro Wake.
The second place winner will receive $200 a month in groceries for a year from NewMarket while the third prize is $100 worth of gasoline a month for a year from Freedom Express. You need not be present to win.
The net proceeds raised by the evening’s activities will help the community center stay open and maintain the facility in the former North Webster School. NWCC is the home of several organizations including the North Webster Community Public Library, Senior Primelife Enrichment Center and The Watershed Foundation and provides programming for all ages. The center is not supported by property tax funds.
Free parking is available at the NWCC east side lot and behind the North Webster Church of God. Attendance has been as large as the estimated population of North Webster so get there early to see and be seen and enjoy all the fun.
