LCA Sports Wrap: Sept. 28
Volleyball
Elkhart Christian Academy breathed a sigh of relief after surviving LCA 25-8, 25-27, 25-21, 27-25 Thursday evening in volleyball action.
Plenty of Lady Cougars were involved on the stat sheet, led by 25 assists, five kills and four blocks from Kyla Kohler. Heather Plastow had 24 digs and Morgan Ziebarth had six blocks. Cami Dahms added 13 kills while McKenzie Burns had 10 digs and Baylee Wiley had six kills.
LCA sits at 9-12 overall with a date Saturday against Traders Point at Oak Hill.
Girls Soccer
The soccer girls wrapped up its regular season with a 4-1 win over the Goshen JV.
Anna Reimink had a pair of goals while Tori Calizo and Jess Slone each potted one.
“I am very happy with the way the girls played this season,” stated LCA head coach Nat Raber. “We started off pretty rocky, which would be expected as this was the first year LCA had a girls soccer team, dropping the first three games. The last nine games we went 7-2. They grew as a team this year and are very excited for sectionals.”
LCA finishes the regular season with a 7-5 record and will forge into the Bethany Christian Sectional against Lakewood Park on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
