Warsaw Basketball: Schedules Released For 2017-18 Campaigns
WARSAW – The schedules for the 2017-18 Warsaw Community High School girls and boys basketball teams have been released.
The girls begin their first season under Coach Lenny Krebs Saturday, Nov. 4, with a road trip to Fort Wayne Luers. Their home-opener will be against Manchester on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Tiger Den.
There is one new opponent on the Lady Tigers’ schedule this season: Defending 4A State Champion Homestead will be in the Tiger Den on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
The 40th Lady Tiger Tournament will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, with Perry Meridian, Chesterton and Mishawaka competing for the title.
The girls will also be tipping off a huge day of basketball at the Tiger Den on Saturday, Dec. 2. The Lady Tigers will host Portage, with the JV game beginning at 2 p.m. and the varsity following. The boys also play at home that night, with the junior varsity scheduled at 6:15 p.m. against Huntington North. The girls’ sectional begins Jan. 30.
The boys’ season begins with the traditional Thanksgiving-eve matchup at Tippecanoe Valley Wednesday, Nov. 22. They follow that up with a road trip to Columbia City on Saturday, Nov. 25. They will begin the 10-game home portion of their schedule in the Tiger Den Dec. 1, against Homestead and back that up the next night at home against Huntington North.
The Tigers will make their first ever trip to Topeka to take on Westview on Saturday, Dec. 23, and make their first ever road trip to Merrillville Feb. 10.
Doug Ogle’s crew will also compete in the Champions of Character Classic at the Manahan Orthopedic Capital Center at Grace College Dec. 30. The day begins with Fishers (coached by former Grace Assistant Matt Moore) meeting Valparaiso at 11 a.m., followed by the Tigers taking on Zionsville. At 6 p.m., Valparaiso and Zionsville start the evening session, followed by Warsaw and Fishers.
The boys’ basketball sectional will begin Tuesday, Feb. 27.
Boys’ basketball season tickets are $50, and will include the 10 home games in the Tiger Den. The games at Grace will be sold separately. Girls’ basketball season tickets are included in the all-sports pass currently on-sale in the athletic department. Tickets for individual home games for both the boys’ and girls’ will be $5 for everyone kindergarten-and-older.
