Warsaw Man Charged With Battery For Strangling Girlfriend
WARSAW — A Warsaw man is facing charges of battery after putting his hands around his girlfriend’s neck.
Humberto Joaquin Lara Jr., 29, 415 W. Porter St., Warsaw, is being charged with domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor, and domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 23 an officer with the Kosciusko Sheriff’s Department responded to a battery complaint. When the officer arrived he spoke to a female who advised her boyfriend had battered her.
The affidavit states that the victim was having a video conversation with her sister when Lara became angry, throwing her laptop and pushing her onto a couch. The victim stated she told Lara to leave her residence multiple times. He refused and placed his hands around her neck. A child was present at the time of the incident.
Officers spoke with the victim’s sister who confirmed her story.
