Wawasee Basketball: Fairfield Puts It On Lady Warriors
BENTON – It was Fairfield’s night on the basketball court.
Holding Wawasee without a field goal the entire first quarter, Fairfield was able to stretch out a 28-15 hafltime lead into a whopping 63-26 walkover Tuesday night.
Wawasee had nearly four times the number of turnovers (27) as it did field goals made (7) on the night. Fairfield made the opportunities stand up, using a 19-point second quarter and 22-point third quarter to pull away. Erica Zook had eight of her 10 points in the second quarter, and Jenean Schwartz made three of her four triples in the third quarter, Schwartz finishing with 12 points. Katie Lashley had 13 points to lead the Falcons, which are 3-0 with an impressive win at Marian and two blowouts of Jimtown and Wawasee.
Wawasee had just two players score more than two points. Aubrey Kuhn hit three from deep and led with 12 points and Kabrea Rostochak added eight points.
The JV game also went the way of the Falcons, 51-30. J. Litwiller paced Fairfield with 11 points with teammate K Kitson right there with 10 points. Madison Mottern had Wawasee’s high mark with nine points and chipped in six boards.
Wawasee (1-2) will host Westview Friday night.
