Elkhart Man Sentenced For Burglarizing Rental Properties
WARSAW — Joshua Allen Wolfe, 28, Elkhart, was sentenced today in Superior Court II for a burglary charge stemming from a December 2016 incident.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed Dec. 21, 2016, a man reported two burglaries to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. The victim stated that between Dec. 28, 2015, and Jan. 3, 2016, someone had entered two of his rental properties and taken several items. The victim reported that items included a RCA stereo, a Reddy heater, three utility heaters, scooter, circular saw, reciprocating saw and power nailers. The total value was approximately $1,095.
Officers spoke with Wolfe on Dec. 14, 2016, and, according to the affidavit, Wolfe admitted to taking the items from the rental properties.
While Wolfe does not have an extensive criminal history, the court was concerned that Wolfe’s criminal actions have escalated so quickly.
For count I burglary, a level 4 felony, Judge David Cates sentenced Wolfe to 6 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections. Of that sentence, Judge Cates suspended 2 years which Wolfe will serve on probation. Wolfe received 244 days jail time credit and will be allowed to serve the executed sentence on work release as long as he qualifies.
Wolfe was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,031.
