Final OK Given For Rezoning By North Webster Town Council
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Town Council barreled through its business at the regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the North Webster Community Center. Kosciusko County Area Planning Commission Director Dan Richard presented a property to be approved for a zoning change from residential to commercial.
Owned by the estate of Katherine H. White, the .84 acre of vacant land is bounded by West Himes Street, Linda Lane and two alleys. It is one half block off South Main Street. Richard noted there had been one remonstrator at the zoning hearing but questions were answered. The APC voted unanimously to approve the change and he recommended it.
Laura Kaufman, attorney with Snyder Morgan Federoff & Kuchmay LLP, Syracuse, also appeared in favor of the zoning change representing the owners in the absence of Steve Snyder. She urged approval saying the owners had no immediate plans for the property. The zoning change was granted by the council.
Also given the go ahead was the payment of $1,000 to Kosciusko County to retain terminal services for 2018. Each municipality in the county pays to keep computers connected to other governmental agencies.
Police Chief Greg Church requested approval by the council of the usual 250 hours of overtime in 2018 for his department. Normally, only about 180 hours are used. “I like to have it available and try not to use it all,” he explained. Council agreed to the proposal.
Police answered 198 calls of service during October with the most being traffic related, citizens assists and agency assists. Officers worked 745.75 hours, drove, 3,394 miles and used 298.8 gallons of fuel.
Severn Trent Director of Utilities Mike Noe reported the Christmas lights had been hung as well as the winter banners. Leaf removal continues and is going well. Clarifiers in the sewage treatment plant are in the process of being fixed while the new truck has not arrived yet.
In attendance were Richard, Kauffman, Church, Noe, council members Jon Sroufe, Lisa Strombeck and David Waliczek, Clerk-Treasurer Betsy Luce and Town Attorney Jack Birch.
The next scheduled meeting of the council is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the North Webster Community Center, 301 N. Main St.
