Pierceton Police Warn Of Email Scam
PIERCETON — The Pierceton Police Department is warning residents to be aware of a recent email scam. The email claims it is from the Supreme Court of the United States and asks the recipient for money and claims legal action will be taken if the money is not received.
“A Pierceton resident dropped this off to me today,” said Pierceton Chief of Police Tim Sammons regarding the email. “She was very worried. I told her never to reply to email such as this, due to a high level of scam. I also told her to never give personal information about herself over the phone or through social media and emails.”
The email features the seal and Washington D.C. address of the Supreme Court in order to look legitimate.
If you receive a suspicious email, never respond or give out personal information before verifying the sender.
