Swimming
Tippecanoe Valley’s swim teams earned a pair of Three Rivers Conference wins over visiting Wabash on Thursday night.
The Viking boys won by a comfortable 112-68 margin, while the Lady Vikings claimed a narrow 90-83 victory.
Valley’s boys won 11 of 12 events at their home pool.
Daniel Alexander claimed wins in all four of his events — the individual medley (2:24.32), the 500 free (6:05.85), the medley relay (2:02.43) with Jacob McDonald, Camden Tucker and Chase Brower and the 400 free relay (3:55.31) with Dakota Prater, Mason Stephen and Brower. Brower was also a four-time winner with victories in both of the aforementioned relays as well as in the breaststroke (1:11.07) and the butterfly (1:04.79).
Stephen notched a trio of wins in the 400 free relay, the 50 free (26.02) and the backstroke (1:12.42), Prater earned a second win in the 200 free (2:05.15), and Tucker touched first in the 100 free (1:02.03). Travis Shull topped the diving field with a 184.55 score.
The Lady Vikings won six events in their narrow victory over Wabash.
Olivia Livengood was tops in three races, winning the butterfly (1:10.21), the 500 free (6:12.42) and the 400 free relay (4:32.68) alongside Jerzey Conley, Mayde Fear and Shelby Baker. Fear won the 50 free (28.7), and Conley took top honors in the 200 free (2:31.31). Tiphanie Hodge placed first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 144.15.
Middle School Boys Basketball
Tippy Valley split its seventh and eighth grade games with Edgewood, and the sixth grade Vikings both claimed wins over Whitko.
Valley’s eighth grade topped Edgewood, 47-43. Braden Shepherd lit it up with 25 points, while Rex Kirchenstien scored nine, and Landon Walter scored eight for the Vikings, who stayed unbeaten at 4-0.
The Vikings’ seventh grade suffered its first loss of the year, 42-28, to Edgewood. Paul Leasure put up 15, and Nolan Cumberland chipped in nine to lead Valley’s seventh grade, which slipped to 3-1.
The Vikings’ sixth grade A team beat Whitko 30-9 to move to a 2-0 start, meanwhile. Kyler Johnson put up 12 to pace Valley, while Hunter Craft, Nate Parker and Wade Jones finished with four apiece.
The sixth grade B team also downed Whitko, 20-15, to move to 1-1 with its first win of the season. Evan Richards and Coleman Sulkey scored six points each, and Carson Craft and Traddin Black both put up four in a balanced scoring effort.
