North Webster Library December Programming
NORTH WEBSTER — If you love to watch movies, dash into North Webster Community Public Library for the December DVD Dash and a chance to win a Blu-ray DVD player. Throughout December, each time patrons check out five DVDs they become eligible to enter the grand prize drawing for a chance to win a Blu-ray DVD player. The more DVDs they check out, the more chances they have to win. Patrons must be 18 years or older to enter. The lucky winner will be drawn on Jan. 8.
Dec. 11, through Dec. 16, patrons can have fun playing “Find the Library Elf on the Shelf” game. Each day a special library elf will be hidden somewhere in the library. Patrons who find it can go to the circulation desk to receive a sweet treat. Not only can patrons earn a treat, it is also a great way to explore the library and find new sections they haven’t been to before such as the CD music collection, puzzles exchange, art gallery and other surprises.
Many have wanted to take the library’s popular “Beginning Genealogy Course” but are unable to attend during the workday. In January, the library will be offering the four-class course at 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 8, through Jan. 29. Local History and Genealogy Center Director Beth Smith will teach attendees how to get started researching their family trees. They will learn the standards for genealogy, how to find information online and in libraries, research techniques, how to organize their research and much more. You don’t have to have a library card to take this free course but advance registration is required. Those interested can sign up at the circulation desk or call (574) 834-7122.
The new sewing room is now open and is available in two-hour time slots throughout the day every Wednesday through Saturday. Bring your sewing projects and supplies to the library and use the programmable Singer sewing machine for free. Just sign up for the time and day you need at the circulation desk.
The library will close to the public early at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, so the staff can host a event to honor library volunteers.
