Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
3:56 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, East CR 700S, west of South Packerton Road, Claypool. Driver: Riley P. Reinholt, 24, SR 331, Tippecanoe. Reinholt advised that while traveling east on East CR 700S, he crested a hill and saw a vehicle sitting in the roadway, completely blocking the eastbound lane of travel. According to Reinholt, the hazard lights were activated on that vehicle, but the vehicle was unoccupied. Reinholt stated he attempted to stop but due to icy road conditions he was unable to avoid colliding with the vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, east CR 250N and North CR 100E, Warsaw. Drivers: Noah A. Cole, 22, East Main Street, Warsaw, and Darin L. Wolken, 50, East Portside Drive, Warsaw. Cole advised that when approaching the intersection of East CR 250N and North CR 100E, his vehicle began to slide due to slick road conditions and he was unable to stop at the stop sign. Cole’s vehicle struck Wolken’s vehicle at the intersection. Damage up to $10,000.
8:31 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, North CR 650W, north of CR 100N, Atwood. Driver: Jacob A. Ritchey, 23, South CR 450W, Claypool. Ritchey advised that a deer ran into the roadway as Ritchey was southbound on CR 650W. When Ritchey hit his brakes to avoid striking the deer, he lost control of his vehicle, sliding into a ditch and striking a pole. Damage up to $2,500.
4:51 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, North CR 300E, south of East CR 700N, Leesburg. Driver: Jill M. Donley, 49, Brookview Drive, Warsaw. Donley advised that when making a turn onto CR 700N she slid into a stop sign due to slick road conditions. Damage up to $2,500.
