Warsaw Basketball: Norwell Rallies Past Tigers
WARSAW – A huge second-half rally earned Norwell a win over host Warsaw in girls basketball action Friday night.
The Tigers led by as many as 18 points in the final half before their guests stormed back for a 54-50 victory in the non-conference matchup.
Warsaw, which led 37-19 in the third period, led 48-44 in the final frame before Norwell closed the game with a 10-2 run to earn the win.
The Tigers, who fall to 9-4, led 10-7 after the opening frame and 26-12 at halftime after shooting 9-15 from the field. The hosts led 41-33 entering the final stanza.
Norwell got red hot from the field in the second half, hitting 15-28 shots, including a handful of treys. Warsaw was just 8-26 from the field in the final half.
Maddie Ryman led the way for Warsaw with 17 points.
Kaylee Patton had 10 points and Kacy Bragg eight for the Tigers. Brielle Harrison had six points and eight rebounds.
Warsaw had 18 turnovers in the game and Norwell finished with 16.
Warsaw won the junior varsity game 37-26. Kensie Ryman had 13 points and Audrey Grimm 10 for Warsaw.
Warsaw will host its own tournament Wednesday. The ladies play Mishawaka at 10 a.m., followed by Chesterton versus Perry Meridian. The consolation game is at 6 p.m. with the championship contest to follow.
