NorthWood Basketball: Ladies Go 1-1 In Tourney
MIDDLEBURY – The NorthWood girls basketball team went 1-1 Friday in pool play action of The Bankers Classic Holiday Tournament.
The Black Swish beat Columbia City 59-44 and then lost to Lake Central 42-27 in day one of the event hosted by Northridge.
Kenzie Bergman turned in her top performance of the season to lead the Panthers to the win over City. Bergman scored a season-high 19 points for the winners.
NorthWood led 11-10 after the opening period before taking a 27-16 halftime lead on the Eagles. The Panthers outscored City 16-9 in the final frame for the 15-point win.
Maddy Payne had 11 points and Savannah Feenstra nine for the Panthers.
Lake Central outscored the Panthers 11-6 in the third period to take control of a close game.
Feenstra led NorthWood with nine points. Payne added seven in the loss.
NorthWood, now 11-4, will play South Bend Adams Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in its final pool play game. The place games are then scheduled for 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
