Barbara M. Gardner, 76, Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2017, in the Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home.

Gardner was born March 21, 1941, in Plymouth, to Leroy and Margaret (Murgatroyd) White. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School class of 1959. On June 12, 1959, she became the bride of Charles A. “Jake” Gardner in a ceremony in the Blissville Church in Plymouth. He preceded her in passing on March 21, 2017. She enjoyed thrift shopping, sewing and would make many beautiful crocheted and knitted gifts for her family and friends. She could spend hours coloring and reading. Barbara had a fondness for cats but was partial to dogs. Her greatest joy was her family. The Gardner family would like to say “Thank you” to the staff at the Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care Gardner received.

Those left to cherish Gardner’s memory are her daughter, Rosalie Ousnamer, Plymouth; her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Becky Gardner, Walkerton;  Gardner was further blessed with three grandchildren, Kyle Ousnamer, Ryan Gardner and Rylee Gardner; Gardner is preceded in passing by her parents, her husband, her son, Steven Gardner and her brother, Thomas E. White.

The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for the Gardner family and extend our deepest heartfelt condolences to the family. According to Gardner’s wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Gardner family respectfully request memorial contributions in Gardner’s honor are given to the donor’s choice.
