Sam Manns
Sam Manns, 70, Delong, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away Dec. 30, 2017, at his home.
Born in Breathitt County, Ky., Dec. 16, 1947, Sam was the treasured son of George and Nancy Watkins Manns. As one of seven of the Manns children, growing up he shared his childhood with three brothers and three sisters. The Manns family moved to northern Indiana about 48 years ago in 1970.
In Culver, on March 30, 1971, Sam married the love of his life, Pamela Marvinette Stevens. They enjoyed 46 years of life’s adventures. From their union came three beautiful daughters. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
With a strong ethic Sam worked for the Torx corporation in set-up and as a machinist. He began working in 1967 and retired in 2005 after 37 years of service. To relax he enjoyed tinkering with engines in his garage-workshop. Sam delved into a variety of electrical related projects and helping friends. Cutting wood for his wood burner was also a source of relaxation.
Left to cherish Sam’s memory are his wife Pam, at home; three daughters: Melissa L. Clark and husband Kent, Delong; Nancy Malott and husband Justin, Grass Creek; Samantha Dare and husband Dave, Delong; nine grandchildren: Jessica, Pamela, Shane, Riley, Skylar, Zareck, Ethan and the twins Addison and Grayson; four great grandchildren: Addylan, Jackson, Emery, Aubrielle; and two sisters: Rosalie Brown and husband Mac, Waynesville, Ohio; and Rhonda Moore and husband Denver, Harrod, Ohio.
Preceding Sam in death are his parents; a sister Junie; and three brothers: Clyde, Okie and Bert.
Chaplain Jason See will officiate services. Burial will follow in the Leiter’s Ford Cemetery.
