Philip Alan Whiteman
Philip Alan Whiteman, 76, passed away, Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.
Born June 22, 1941, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Everett “Johnny” M. Whiteman and Dorothy B. (Riegel) Whiteman.
He married Victoria I. (Quillen) Whiteman on June 2, 1963 in Indianapolis. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, on June 9, 1959, and Indiana Central College (B.S. Business Admin.), Indianapolis, on June 6, 1965.
He was employed by International Harvester, successful owner and president of WW Truck Sales and Lincolnway International Trucks in Fort Wayne, Logansport, Warsaw and South Bend. Ranked top five International (Navistar) dealer in the US during his tenure. Formerly of North Webster and living in Fort Wayne, he loved helping people and families with various needs, spending time and vacationing with his family and friends in Sanibel Island, Fla., reading and working around his house and woods with chores. He attended Broadway Christian Church, Fort Wayne.
Surviving are his former spouse, V. Irene Whiteman, Columbia City; sons, Jon A. (Carmen) Whiteman, Columbia City; Timothy A. (Kathy) Whiteman, Fort Wayne; daughters: Sherrie A. (Johnny) McCallister, Fort Wayne; Elizabeth A. (Joshua) Shanklin, Cincinnati, Ohio; Heather S. (Andrew) Hoeppner, Leo; fifteen grandchildren; one great granchild; and siblings: Judith A. Whiteman and John R. Whiteman of Indianapolis.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Broadway Christian Church, Fort Wayne Rescue Mission and Salvation Army.
