Candidates Begin Filing For May Primary
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Candidates began their filings this morning, Wednesday, Jan. 10, for nominations in the May Primary. Within the first 15 minutes of the courthouse officially opening, four individuals, all incumbents, had filed.
Sheriff Rocky Goshert was the first to arrive and filed his candidacy for the sheriff’s nomination. He was accompanied by several supporters.
Jon Garber, Kosciusko County Councilman District 4, filed his candidacy followed by Michelle Puckett, county auditor and Joetta Mitchell, county recorder.
All four had arrived and filed by 8:15 a.m.
The deadline for filing is at noon Feb. 9.
Candidates are seeking the nominations for: County auditor, county recorder, county assessor, county commissioner southern district, county council district 1, 2, 3 and 4 seats; township trustee; township advisory board; Milford Clerk-Treasurer; Milford Town Council; and Syracuse Town Council District 1 and 2 can file locally with the Kosciusko County Clerk’s office.
Additionally persons interested in the Democrat Precinct Committeemen positions can file declarations as well as those interested in being state convention delegates.
There are two more positions in the county up for election — Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge and prosecuting attorney, 54th Judicial District. Candidates for these positions must file with the office of the Indiana Secretary of State.
