Second Person Arrested In Criminal Confinement Case
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — A second person has been arrested in a criminal confinement case that left one person with their finger bitten off.
Freddy Lee Roberts, 40, 5982 W. Kingfisher Drive, Mentone, has been arrested on charges of criminal confinement, a level 3 felony; aiding, inducing or causing a battery, a level 5 felony; and obstruction of justice, a level 6 felony
Roberts is accused of aiding Heather Hersha, 32, Pierceton, and Shawn Jefferson, 40, Pierceton, in the confinement of a victim.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, a victim was found on the side of the road in Noble County bleeding from the head. This incident was shortly after the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department had received a call from a motorist stating that the trunk of the vehicle in front of them had opened and a man was inside and bleeding.
The victim had advised officers that he was attacked by Jefferson, Roberts and Hersha. During the brawl, the victim had bitten off Jefferson’s finger.
According to the affidavit, Jefferson and Hersha had tied the victim up and placed him in the trunk of his own car before driving it to Noble County and abandoning the vehicle in the woods with the victim still in the trunk. The full story can be read here.
The affidavit states the victim advised that, in the residence, he quit fighting when Roberts pulled out a gun. The victim also stated he was made to remove his coat and any belongings in his pockets. Jefferson handed these items to Roberts and told him to burn them. It was then Roberts left the residence.
Roberts told officers that he was present during the fight but then left.
