Two Local Doctors Injured In Fatal Accident
WARSAW — Two local physicians were injured in a tragic four-vehicle accident that killed two Warsaw teenagers last Saturday, Jan. 13.
An Indiana State Trooper was responding to a theft at Meijer when he identified a white Pontiac Grand Am as matching the suspect’s vehicle. After the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver, Jacob Slone,19, Warsaw, fled west down US 30, running the red light at the Parker Street intersection and colliding with three other vehicles.
Injured in that collision were local physicians Drs. Miguel and Nora Linares.
The couple was transported to Parkview Fort Wayne to be treated. Miguel, 34, was initially reported as having critical and potentially life-threatening injuries. Nora, 35, also sustained serious injuries, but were believed to not be life-threatening.
“By the good grace of God, we are both doing well and continue to fight strong,” Nora posted on her Facebook page Jan. 16.
Kosciusko Community Hospital announced in August 2016 that Miguel was joining their staff as a sports medicine physician. Nora is listed as working as an emergency physician for Parkview Health Fort Wayne.
The young couple, who are from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., have three young children. A GoFundMe as been set up to assist them and their family as they heal.
“Please continue to pray for us and for the souls and families of the two teens who lost their lives Saturday night,” posted Nora.
Slone and his girlfriend Paige Jefferson, 16, Warsaw, were pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind their 1-year-old son.
