Man Charged After Hitting Pregnant Woman
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — A Pierceton man is facing numerous charges after assaulting a pregnant woman.
Official charges were filed Tuesday, Jan. 16, against Robert Blair, 35, 615 N. First St., Pierceton, following a Jan. 4 incident that initially found him being arrested for domestic battery and held on $6,000 surety and cash bond.
Documents filed Tuesday show Blair has been charged with battery causing bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a class 5 felony; domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a class 6 felony; possession of marijuana and interference with the reporting of a crime, both class A misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
Information filed with the courts state Pierceton Police were notified by the mother of a victim who reported her daughter was physically abused by Blair. Police spoke with the victim who stated they began arguing Jan. 3, after he removed money from her bank account to purchase marijuana. She stated she confronted Blair and he became physical, pushing her to the ground twice causing physical pain.
The victim stated when she went to call police, Blair took her phone out of her hands, threw it to the ground and broke it. The arguments and violence began the following day, but was able to get to a phone to contact her mother who contacted police. There were two minor children present at the time of the altercations.
A small bag containing marijuana and a smoking device was given to police from Blair’s backpack.
