Wawasee High School To Host Robotics Tournament
SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School’s robotics team will be hosting 51 or more robotics teams from Illinois and Indiana in a tournament Saturday, Feb. 3, in the main gym of the high school. Doors will open at 8 a.m. and matches will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Students have been designing, building and programming their robots since April. More than 50 teams are expected to register for this tournament and approximately 200 students will be in attendance.
Local students from these programs have moved on to careers in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering and computer science.
This tournament is a qualifying tournament for the Indiana VEX Robotics State Championships to held March 10 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where 300 teams from elementary to high school ages will compete. And this will also qualify teams for the Create Foundation U.S. Nationals Tournament.
Winning teams from the state championships will qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championships in April where they will compete against teams from 40 countries across the globe.
