Man Wakes Up From Hotel Rendezvous To An Empty Bed And A Stolen Car
WARSAW — A man spent the night at a local hotel with a Silver Lake woman he met online. When he woke up, the woman was gone and so was his car. The vehicle was later located and the woman was arrested on various drug charges.
Sheena Marie Spears, 27, 604 E. Sycamore St., No. 143, Silver Lake, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Jan. 24, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to an auto theft at the Economy Inn in Warsaw. The officer spoke with a man who advised he had met Spears on the internet and they had rented a room together. When he woke up, Spears was gone as well as his Ford Mustang.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, another officer observed the Ford Mustang on East Center Street and performed a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Spears and an outer air search of the vehicle was performed by a canine. The canine made a positive alert.
The officer searched Spears and found a glass smoking device with burnt residue in her bra and a plastic bag containing marijuana in her right sock. Officers also located a pill grinder with a white powder and several smoking devices that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Spears was then transported to the Kosciusko County Jail. A search was conducted and officers found a plastic bag of methamphetamine in a body cavity.
