Trash Pickup Hike Won’t Affect Mentone Residents
MENTONE — An increase in the cost of trash pickup in Mentone will never be felt by residents, according to the Mentone Town Council.
According to Mentone Clerk-Treasurer Barb Ross, Valley Sanitation increased the town’s trash pickup cost from $2,993.50 to $3,150 each month. While residents currently pay $10 per month for trash pickup, the increase would not amount to much, according to Ross. However, board member Tim Croy stressed that citizens would not see a cent in increase.
“The town is going to absorb the increase,” Croy said. “The residents won’t pay any more for trash pickup.”
Despite the price hike, board member Jill Gross said that Mentone is still getting a bargain. “We’ve looked at other places and we still can’t beat their (Valley Sanitation) price,” Gross said.
- In other business, Gross reminded town employees to turn in their pay vouchers on time and an executive session was set for Tuesday, Feb. 13.
