Winter Classes And Events At The Y
WARSAW—The Kosciusko Community YMCA will be starting a second session of winter classes on Feb. 19. Classes will run through April 1. Classes for youth will include swim lessons, youth fitness and gymnastics classes for all ages. Registration for winter classes will start for everyone on Feb.12.
Classes that promote the Healthy Living aspect of your Y will include group exercise and Indoor Group Cycling, classes for older adults and water aerobics in both the Warm Water and Lap Pools. To support those in our community going through cancer and their caregivers, the Y is hosting “Kathy’s Cancer Conversations,” a volunteer-led cancer support group meeting on the second Monday of each month from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. in the Parkview Center for Healthy Living inside the YMCA. On Feb.12 the group will be able to Ask the Oncologist. Dr. Daniel Bruettman from Goshen Cancer Care will be there to answer any questions. In March the subject is Neuropathy. Dr. Emily Moore of Goshen Cancer Care will share ways to help pain and tingling in hands and feet as a side effect of chemotherapy and Type 2 Diabetes. English as a Second Language will be offered at the Y in partnership with Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church for those 18 and up on Tuesdays until May 22. There are 5 different levels based on ability. The class is free with an initial fee for the book. The class is still accepting new participants. Badminton is a new sport at the YMCA with open play on Tuesday evenings from 8 to 10 p.m. until May 22 and on Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. until May 20. For more information please contact Zane Gard at [email protected].

The YMCA is partnering with Crosswinds Counseling to offer a monthly seminar titled Maximizing Your Marriage.”These seminars will enable individuals and families to claim control, restore relationships and build hope. They will include various assessments and exercises addressing the topic covered each month. The seminars are informative, thought provoking and entertaining, and offer an emotionally supportive and interactive experience. The seminars are facilitated by Crosswinds Therapists and/or Family Coaches. They will take place in the Parkview Warsaw YMCA Multi-Purpose Room 2 on the third Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. On Feb. 21, the effects of stress on children will be discussed and on March 21 the subject will be forgiveness.
Starting Feb. 21, the Y will be hosting Beth Moore’s The Quest, a women’s bible study encouraging intimacy with God through asking and discussing questions of faith. This six-week study will be offered by Mission Point Church at the YMCA from 6:30 to 8 p.m on Wednesdays, with large group video and small group discussions over weekly study assignments.
