Denver E. Jones
Denver E. Jones, 94, Plymouth, and formerly of the Argos community, died at 8:55 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at the Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson, where he had been declining in health.
On Dec. 4, 1923 in Hammond, Ill. he was born to Revie Jones and Myrtle (Shoemaker) Jones. Denver moved to Argos, in 1950 after being raised in Cerro Gordo, Ill. He had spent the past 21 years in Plymouth.
On Dec. 24, 1948, at the Walnut Church of the Brethren in Argos, he married Evelyn Lucille Reed and together they shared 65 years with each other. Lucille preceded him on June 20, 2014.
He was a farmer up until his retirement. He was former member of the Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos.
He is survived by his son, Allen E. (Linda) Jones, Grovertown; daughters: Myrna S. (Dave) Galbraith, Waldron; Krista Jones, Beech Grove; Brent (Courtney) Jones, Plymouth; great grandchildren: Caleb, Colin, Callie, Chloe and Kolton Jones, all of Plymouth; Lillian and Ethan Brown, Greenwood; sister, Evelyn (Francis) Barr, North Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Earl, Ivan, Bill and Ralph Jones; sisters: Helen Jones and Ruth Traxler; and three infant siblings.
Friends may visit from 3-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St. Argos. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos with Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. of the Walnut Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
